- What/Why:
- There are 2 parts to this UYE - feel free to participate in either or both!
As kind of a healthy finale to Yelp Eats, and selfishly as a way to stay on track with somewhat of a wedding diet / exercise program, I thought this may be of interest to some of you...
Please come join me and Natalie Pyles, health & fitness expert and nutrition specialist for a cup of coffee or tea and then about a 45 minute walk which we'll conclude with some stretching and possibly abdominal work.
(After a week of Yelp Eats dinners, we'll need it, right?!)
We'll meet at 4:30 at CB&TL and walk over to the green belt at 5pm. We'll then return and those interested in heading over to part 2 (dinner at Roka Akor as part of Yelp Eats!) will do so... Please RSVP here but also PM me to let me know if you're in for part 1, part 2, or both... and also let me know if you'll be bringing a guest so we can get a head count.
Looking forward to exer-eating with you!

As kind of a healthy finale to Yelp Eats, and selfishly as a way to stay on track with somewhat of a wedding diet / exercise program for myself, I thought this may be of interest to some of you...
Part 1 is posted here: http://www.yelp.com/ev...
After our walk, we'll head over to Roka Akor for dinner! It's the last night of Yelp Eats, so we can order from their special menu (see preview here: http://www.yelp.com/ev...) - and maybe even get an extra vegetable course instead of dessert for those interested?!
Please RSVP here but also PM me to let me know if you're in for part 1, part 2, or both... and also let me know if you'll be bringing a guest so we can get a head count for our dinner reservation.
Looking forward to exer-eating with you!

Part 1 will be free and Part 2 will be $25 + tax and tip to cover your meal!

How to bring Nuts Alive the Raw Food way!
The RAW Facts
Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds contain the genetic potential for starting a new life, and are endowed with sufficient nutrition to sustain their offspring. This, in turn, makes nuts and seeds a powerhouse of nutrition for us, providing beneficial fats, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Nuts have a higher fat content than seeds do, where as seeds tend to be higher in iron. Both contain beta- carotene, B- complex vitamins, vitamins D and E, and calcium, and are excellent sources of vegeterian protein; in fact, by volume, nuts and seeds provide more protein than meat or milk. They contain phytosterols, or plant hormones, that have a structure similar to that of humane hormones and support the endocrine system and all its functions, including reproductive health. Raw nuts and seeds also contain lipase, an enzyme that helps the body digest fats.
Nuts and seeds can help regulate blood sugar levels, and also help clean and strengthen teeth and gums. They relieve constipation, have a "grounding effect, calm nervousness, and strengthen weakness. Nuts and seeds are excellent for bodybuilders, for those who work with their muscles, and for increasing sexual desire in both men and women.
Here are some tips and rules of the Raw food diet to follow:
Nuts help control fat and cholesterol levels in the body.
Eaten in small amounts 1/4 cup or 1 oz
No more than 6 ounces a day total
Soak for 8-12 hours
H20 double the amount of water
Soaking Helps with digestibility
Nuts can be soaked in or out of the refrigerator
Use them for recipes, snacks, in trail mixes, and baking.
Here are the Top 17 nuts and I would recommend starting from the very best:
1. Almonds
2. Brazil Nut
3. Cashew
4. Chia Seed
5. Coconut
6. Flax Seed
7. Hazelnut/Filbert
8. Hemp Seed
9. Macadamia Nut
10. Pecan
11. Pine Nut
12. Pistachio
13. Poppy Seed
14. Pumpkin Seed
15. Sesame Seed
16. Sunflower Seed
17. Walnut
